Frequently Asked Questions
Here’s a list of our most frequently asked questions. Please reach us at [email protected] if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Do You Install?
We are not installers, but feature a really amazing product – Bear Light Tracks which enable you to seamlessly install Govee Lights with the greatest aesthetic using high quality powder coated alloy unlike any product on the market. You will find this DIY install simple, clean and with peace of mind, as if a PRO did it! They are also designed with DIY simplicity in mind. 3-4 self tapping screws is all you need every 6.5 feet. If you ever need to swap out the lights with upgrading technology, all that’s needed is to simply pop off the top, replace the lights, and close it up again.
If you are Team “No Ladders” or do need help with installs, we do have a number of installers we work with and trust as part of our Govee Network of installers, but in areas we may not have covered quite yet – we would recommend you fully vet any installer to ensure they are licensed/insured and can provide you daytime photos of their work. Depending on your project, you might also consider one who’s familiar with low-voltage wiring/splicing. We are also happy to chat with your installer/answer questions.
We also do provide discounts to our networked installers and bulk discounts to help save you in your overall project cost.
Are Bear Light Tracks DIY friendly?
Bear Light Tracks are very DIY-friendly. The system is designed for simple home installation, and the aluminum is easy to cut and mount with standard tools like a miter saw or tin snips. The 6.5-foot length of each track also accelerates installation by accommodating multiple lights in a single, easy-to-handle piece.
In fact, the concept for Bear Tracks was born out of a personal DIY project, so we’ve made sure that the design prioritizes a straightforward setup.
Additionally, we provide placement tools to help you effortlessly align the tracks, ensuring a professional and seamless look with minimal effort.
What is the difference between PRO Standard and PRO Brilliance?
The standard/brilliance spacing is a matter of preference. We feature Bear Light Tracks Pro Brilliance simply because more lights bring a
“more brilliant” look to your display. But some prefer the out of the box spacing further apart. At the end of the day it’s a 3″ difference between lights.
What Considerations should I make with Colors?
We now offer a variety of colors to select from, and can also provide custom color options. With purchasing any item with any color online, it is important to reference the RAL number and verify with your home directly prior to purchase. Lighting and Monitors, or even perception can impact how the color looks on your home. The best way to verify colors would be go visit your local hardware store to verify the mapped Sherwin Williams color to the RAL you are considering. Here’s a RAL to Sherwin Williams color chart to help with the process. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Color Disclaimer: Please note that due to variations in monitor settings and individual color perception, the colors displayed on our website may appear slightly different from the actual product. We strive to accurately represent colors in our product images, but we cannot guarantee a perfect match. Are Bear Light Tracks hard to cut or customize?
No, they are not. Bear Tracks are made from aluminum, a material that is known for being lightweight and easy to work with.
You can easily cut and customize Bear Tracks with common tools you likely already have, such as a miter saw or a pair of tin snips. No special experience or expensive, specialized tools are required to get a clean cut and perfect fit for your project.
If you have any questions during the process, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to help!
Are Bear Light Tracks paintable?
Yes, Bear Light tracks are paintable. They can be easily coated with any high-quality exterior outdoor paint made for metal surfaces. If you plan to paint the tracks yourself, we recommend choosing our plain aluminum option for the best results. For a professional finish, we also offer custom powder-coat options—simply contact us to discuss available colors and details.
Why aluminum?
Aluminum is the material of choice because it simply outperforms the alternatives. It’s strong yet lightweight, naturally resistant to rust and corrosion, and never warps, cracks, or fades over time.
Unlike plastics, it’s completely unaffected by UV light, so it keeps its sleek look for years whether indoors or outdoors. Aluminum is also easy to work with, endlessly recyclable, and can be finished in a variety of premium coatings for a professional appearance.
That’s why architects, installers, and designers alike choose aluminum—it’s the smarter, longer-lasting solution.
Why powder coating?
Powder coating delivers a tougher, longer-lasting finish than traditional paint. It bonds to aluminum with heat, creating a smooth, even surface that resists chipping, scratching, fading, and corrosion.
Unlike paint, it won’t peel or require frequent touch-ups, which means less maintenance and a lower total cost of ownership over time. Powder coating also offers richer color options, excellent UV stability, and an eco-friendly process without solvents. In short, it outperforms paint by combining durability, beauty, and value in one finish.

Why are your shipping rates different from budget brands?
Our shipping rates reflect the specialized care required to transport our premium 6.5ft (2m) aluminum tracks. Unlike other brands that ship short segments to save on postage, we prioritize the final look and ease of your installation. This length is optimized to be the longest possible size we can ship via standard carriers before incurring freight-level surcharges.
Why do we use longer tracks?
Easier Customization: If you choose to color-match the tracks to your trim, you will have far fewer individual pieces to prep and paint compared to the multiple short segments used by other systems.
Superior Aesthetics & Easier Alignment: Longer segments allow you to achieve a perfectly straight, professional line with very little effort. For a DIYer, it is much easier to mount one long, straight track than to try and perfectly align multiple short pieces, which often results in wavy lines.
Faster & Safer Installation: Handling fewer pieces saves you time and reduces the number of trips up and down your ladder. Instead of juggling multiple short sections, you simply mount one continuous piece.
Why don’t you offer corner covers?
We intentionally designed our system to be installed without corner covers to ensure the most professional, seamless finish possible. Most corner covers on the market are made of bulky plastic that disrupts the clean lines of the aluminum track and lowers the curb appeal of your home.
Why custom corners are better for the DIYer:
Superior Aesthetics: A mitered corner (where two tracks meet directly) looks much cleaner and more architectural than capping the joint with a plastic cover.
A Perfect Fit for Every Home: Pre-made covers lock you into a rigid 90-degree angle. However, most real-world eaves and rooflines are rarely perfect 90-degree squares. Cutting your own corners allows you to match the exact angle of your home for a tight, custom fit.
No Extra Cost: While other systems charge a premium for these accessories, creating your own corners is free. It requires just a few simple cuts with a standard saw or snips. You can view our step-by-step guides on our YouTube channel to see just how easy it is.
